The Zolty Family Legacy

The Zolty Charitable Foundation was established to formalize and expand the long-standing tradition of charitable giving that has been a cornerstone of the Zolty family for generations. Located in the heart of North York on Bathurst Street, our foundation serves as a beacon of hope and support for the Jewish community and beyond.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to advance education, promote Jewish religious values, and provide interest-free loans to those in need. We believe that true charity strengthens not only the recipient but the entire community.

Registered as a charitable corporation with the Canada Revenue Agency (119309623RR0001), we are committed to transparency, accountability, and maximizing the impact of every dollar entrusted to us.

Righteousness & Justice

In Jewish tradition, tzedakah is more than charity—it is an act of justice and righteousness. The word itself comes from the Hebrew root meaning "justice." We believe that supporting those in need is not just an act of kindness, but an obligation to create a just society.

Loving Kindness

Chesed represents acts of unconditional love and compassion. It is the kindness we extend to others without expectation of anything in return. Our foundation practices chesed by treating every person we help with dignity and respect.

Acts of Loving Kindness

While tzedakah refers to giving money, gemilut chasadim encompasses all acts of kindness—including time, effort, and emotional support. Our volunteers embody this value in everything they do.

Community

The concept of kehillah—community—is central to Jewish life. We are all responsible for one another. The Zolty Foundation works to strengthen the bonds of our community in North York and beyond.

Maimonides' Ladder of Tzedakah

The great Jewish philosopher Maimonides taught that the highest form of charity is helping someone become self-sufficient. Our interest-free loan program follows this principle.
